About ONZO
ONZO is a data analytics company founded in 2007 to assist utility organisations use “Big Data” to create meaningful insight to the benefit of their customers.
Using ONZO solutions, organisations are able to deliver outcomes including energy efficiency, customer engagement, improved marketing and reduced cost to serve and increase customer satisfaction.
Challenge
As the success of the ONZO data analytics platform grew, so had the organisation’s reliance on an increasingly large internal IT infrastructure.
The team had expanded and moved into a new headquarters in London along with an on-premise data centre.
Faced with the cost of extending the life of this data centre, including a number of legacy support contracts, ONZO chose to evaluate other options for servicing the internal team.
ONZO approached Ubertas to provide costed options for migrating all of its internal IT infrastructure to the cloud.
Approach
During a short consulting exercise, Ubertas worked with ONZO to understand the core requirement of migrating and running their data warehouse, VMware farm and various other functions such as Active Directory, DNS, WSUS and centralised anti-virus.
Ubertas proposed an AWS solution largely based on SSD EBS backed EC2 instances with a VPN Gateway providing encrypted IPSEC tunnels linking the existing firewall with the AWS VPC. EBS and AMI snapshots with all disk volume data backed up daily, and entire virtual machines backed up monthly.
Ubertas planned and executed the migration strategy as well as provisioning all of the required AWS services.
